Tupi

Tupi came out of Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s. Their debut album was called 'Farol' in 1999, which gave them a national audience. The band's sound mixed punk energy with Brazilian rhythms, though that approach wasn't always an easy fit with mainstream radio at first.

They kept recording through the 2000s, putting out albums like 'Crua' in 2002, 'Eterno Carnaval' in 2005, and 'Lado Z' in 2010. Their songs sometimes touched on social themes, which drew both fans and critics. You can hear some of that directness in tracks like 'DIZ' and 'Cê Sabe'.

The core lineup has stayed Marcos Valle on vocals, Leandro Dalle on bass, and Ricardo Koctus on drums. Valle's writing and stage presence became a recognizable part of what they do. They released more albums later, including 'Sob o Sol' in 2014 and 'Aqui e Agora' in the 2020s.
