TV-2 formed in Aarhus in 1978 with Steffen Brandt on vocals and guitar, Sven Gaul on bass, and Hans Henrik Kofoed on drums. Their third album 'Nærmere Endnu' from 1984 gave them their first major hit with the title track. Songs like 'Aldrig, Gentar Aldrig' and 'Bag Duggede Ruder' became staples of their catalog.
Brandt's lyrics sometimes drew criticism, but the band kept writing about ordinary life in Denmark. They've put out more than twenty studio albums over the decades, including 'Rigtige Mænd Går I Sort' in 1987 and 'Forsvundet I Aarhus' in 2013. The lineup has stayed mostly steady, with Georg Olesen joining on keyboards and Niels Brinck on guitar.
Their sound has clear roots in classic rock, but it's always felt distinctly Danish. They still play shows and record new material, maintaining a straightforward approach that has connected with listeners across generations.
