Archive material and source history
Two Tricky was a British duo from the early 1990s, made up of vocalist Martyn Ware and multi-instrumentalist Glenn Gregory. Ware had previously been part of Heaven 17, and Gregory handled guitars, bass, and vocals. Their first album, 'Lost Weekend,' came out in 1992 and included the single 'Angel,' which reached number 22 on the UK charts.
Their sound mixed electronica, pop, and soul, with Ware's vocals often described as melancholic and Gregory's instrumentation as atmospheric. They put out two more albums after that: 'Augustus Pablo' in 1994 and 'Raw Nerve' in 1999.
While they had some creative tension and faced criticism for being too experimental, their music, especially 'Angel,' found an audience. The duo's work explored themes like love and loss through introspective lyrics, and it has been cited as an influence by other artists since.
