T.W.Z. (aka Time Wave Zero)

T.W.Z., also known as Time Wave Zero, formed in the late 1990s with Jolan van der Wiel on vocals and production, Ernst Moldenhauer on guitar and keyboards, and Marc Constandt on drums. Their music blended ambient, trip-hop, and electronica into something that didn't fit neatly into one category. Songs like "A Riddle" and "Purge" carried a certain atmospheric weight, with van der Wiel's lyrics often circling themes of consciousness and reality.

They released three albums between 2000 and 2004, starting with "A Riddle" in 2000, followed by "The Dream Goes On" in 2002 and "The Longing" in 2004. The work from this period, including tracks like "Cosmic Vagabond 1" and "Certain Death," built ethereal soundscapes around Moldenhauer's atmospheric guitar and keyboard layers and Constandt's intricate drum patterns.

Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being too obscure or pretentious, while others found them thought-provoking. The band's activity appears to have been concentrated in those few years around the turn of the millennium, leaving behind a small catalog that still finds listeners drawn to its particular mood.
