Typhoon

Typhoon formed in Portland, Oregon around 2005, starting as a trio of childhood friends Kyle Morton, Scott Padden, and David Hall before expanding. They released their debut album 'Offerings' in 2010, but it was their 2013 follow-up 'White Lighter' that brought wider attention, particularly through the song 'Baram'.

Their music often gets described as indie folk, though it incorporates rock and classical elements in a way that feels more like a natural blend than a calculated fusion. Songs like 'Firewood' and 'Geuraeseo' show their tendency toward layered harmonies and emotionally direct lyrics without much studio polish.

The band's lineup has included Andrew Katz and Will Blair at various points, with Morton, Padden, and Hall remaining consistent presences. They've continued releasing albums like 'A New Kind of House' in 2016 and 'Sympathetic Magic' in 2019, maintaining a steady output without dramatic shifts in their approach.
