Uchuu Konbini formed in Osaka in 2012. The Japanese band's music blended ambient textures with experimental electronica, creating soundscapes that felt both spacious and intricate. Their 2015 album 'Everythingchanges' brought them wider attention with its ethereal harmonies and drifting arrangements.
Their work included tracks like 'Tobira' and 'Pyramid,' which carried that same atmospheric quality. In 2019, they collaborated with musician Midori Takada on the project 'Rhizome,' which incorporated traditional Japanese instruments into their electronic palette. They released 'Terrestrial' in 2021, continuing with their established approach to melody and texture.
The band consisted of Haruka Nakamura on vocals, keyboards, and sampler; Yuhei Hayata on guitars and synthesizers; Takuya Miyagawa on bass and synthesizers; and Tomoki Sugaya on drums and percussion. Their live performances were known for their energy and immersive quality.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
