Udiyana Bandha formed in 2008 around vocalist Ana Carolina, who had classical training. Keyboardist Pedro Sá, guitarist Maurício Ribeiro, and bassist Leo Bianchini made up the core group. Their debut album 'Ilumina' came out in 2011, followed by 'Em Busca da Luz' in 2014 and 'Sementes do Céu' in 2017.
Songs like 'Colheitas Dos Girassóis' and 'Beija Flor' show their mix of Brazilian rhythms with spiritual themes. Some listeners found their approach too esoteric, but they kept making music on their own terms.
Their work has appeared in films and documentaries, and they've played live shows in Brazil and elsewhere. The band's sound stays focused on Ana Carolina's vocals and the kind of reflective atmosphere you hear in tracks like 'Crisanthemus' and 'Budha Que Ri'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
