Ueda Marie is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Tokyo who started writing songs as a teenager. She studied classical piano before releasing her debut album 'Prologue' in 2008. Her third album 'Dining' came out in 2012, with the title track becoming a hit that brought her more attention.
Her songs like 'Parade of Dreams' and 'Wasurena Ni Kuchidzuke' show her interest in melancholic themes and personal reflection. She's been open about dealing with depression and anxiety, and those experiences have shaped much of her writing.
In 2014, she faced plagiarism accusations that she denied. She works with musicians including guitarist Kenichi Nagai, bassist Rio Yamashita, and drummer Hitoshi Watanabe for live shows and recordings. Her fourth studio album 'Utopia' was released in 2016.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
