Uhrilehto is a Finnish black metal band that formed in 2004, led by Tuomas "Somnium" Saukkonen. They emerged from the ashes of the Finnish metal band Before the Dawn. Their debut album "Ei Ristin Sielva" came out in 2005, followed by "Aura" in 2007 and "Lavitsojen Vuori" in 2009. Their most recent album is "Viides Vuodenaika" from 2019.
Their music draws from Finnish folklore and ancient runes, with lyrics that sometimes touch on pagan and anti-Christian themes. This has occasionally drawn criticism from religious groups. Songs like "Viha Ja Ikuinen Vitutus," "Surman Kylmä Kutso," and "Jesus Christ Massacre" reflect these darker themes.
The band's lineup has changed over time, with Somnium remaining the constant creative force. Other members have included drummer Jaakko "Klonkku" Nyman and bassist Markus "Tappi" Hirvonen. Their sound has evolved from their early raw aggression to incorporate more atmospheric elements, as heard on their later work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
