Ultimo Horário formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s as a trio with Marcelo Camelo on vocals and guitar, André Carvalho on bass, and Fred Castro on drums. They started playing small clubs and underground venues, building a following with their raw energy and introspective lyrics.
Their self-titled debut album came out in 2000, followed by several others including Segundo in 2002 and Mundo Invisível in 2006. The song "Desejo Descontente" became particularly well-known for its melancholic harmonies and themes of unfulfilled yearning.
While their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for addressing social injustice and personal struggle, the band continued releasing music through the 2000s and 2010s with albums like Do Tamanho do Mundo, Viva, and Farol in 2017.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
