Ultra Orange & Emmanuelle were a French electronic act formed in the mid-1990s. The production duo Ultra Orange consisted of Jean-Philippe Verdin and Dominique Salvert, who began working together in 1994. They were joined a few years later by singer Emmanuelle Seigner, a French actress with a distinctive voice. Their sound mixed techno and ambient elements with Seigner's vocals.
Their 1998 single "Sing Sing" became an international hit, reaching high positions on charts in multiple countries. The track's hypnotic rhythm and Seigner's delivery gave them a sudden burst of recognition. They followed it with songs like "Don't Kiss Me Goodbye" and "Nobody Knows," which appeared on their 1999 debut album "Forever Live and More."
They released two more albums, "This is Ultra Orange & Emmanuelle" in 2001 and "Singularity" in 2004. Their lyrics sometimes touched on themes that drew mixed reactions, though the music itself kept a steady electronic pulse. The group's recordings have a particular late-1990s French electronic atmosphere that still gets played in certain circles.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
