Ultra X formed in São Paulo in 1983, with guitarist Décio Piccinini, bassist Luiz Carlos Maluly, and drummer Sérgio Valle. Their debut album 'Miragem' came out in 1985, and its single 'A Nova História' became a national hit in Brazil. The song's success put the band on the pop charts for several years.
They followed up with albums like 'Somos Todos Iguais' in 1987 and 'Sob Pressão' in 1989. Other songs from that period include 'Mais que Sonhos' and 'Sem Pretensão'. The lineup changed over time, with Maluly and Valle eventually leaving the group.
By the mid-1990s, Ultra X had released six studio albums, ending with 'O Grande Encontro' in 1995. Their music mixed pop and rock with Brazilian rhythms, and they were known for energetic live shows during their active years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
