Uma Banda formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1985 with Felipe Machado on vocals, Ricardo Lima on guitar, Sérgio Penna on bass, and Rodrigo Silveira on drums. Their debut album 'Perdidos' came out in 1987, and the title track became something of an anthem for young Brazilians at the time.
They released several more albums, including 'Deixa o Rio Falar' in 1991 and 'Maré' in 1995. In 2010, guitarist Ricardo Lima left the band to work on solo projects.
