UMPORCENTO formed in São Paulo, with Felipe Catto on vocals and guitar, Thiago Martins on bass, Bruno Caliman on guitar, and Rafael Rocha on drums. They released their debut album in 2007, which got some critical attention. Their song "Antes Que o Céu Escureça" became particularly well-known.
They put out several more albums over the next decade, including Céu Azul in 2010, Utopia in 2016, and Euphoria in 2019. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social themes, which sparked occasional debate. The band toured internationally, playing shows in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
