UmSebastião formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, led by frontman Sebastian Soares. They were a Brazilian alternative rock band that drew attention for their poetic lyrics and driving rhythms.
Their 1995 debut album "Céu de Agosto" brought them national prominence. The title track became an instant classic, a melancholic yet uplifting ballad about lost love. Soares's lyrics often carried social and political commentary that drew criticism, and the band's tendency to experiment with genre boundaries sometimes alienated listeners.
They released several albums including "Almanaque" in 1997, "Viagem" in 2000, "Corredor Polonês" in 2002, "Fortaleza" in 2005, and "O Futuro é Agora" in 2008. The core lineup included Soares on vocals and guitar, Vinicius Campos on bass, Marcelo Costa on drums, and Pedro Fonseca on guitar.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
