Una Zen formed in São Paulo around 2005 with Fernanda Takai on vocals and multi-instruments, Titi Müller on bass, and Vinicius Neves on drums. Their debut album came out in 2009, titled after the song 'A Batida Perfeita É a Batida do Coração,' which became a popular track for them.

They put out a few more albums in the early 2010s, including 'Uma Nova História' in 2011 and 'A Estrada' in 2014. Some of their other songs that people know include 'Soul Zen' and 'Guerreiro da Luz.'

At some point they worked with other Brazilian musicians like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. Their music sometimes touched on social themes, which drew both support and criticism in Brazil.
