Uneven Structure is a French progressive metal band that formed with six members: Arnaud Verrier on guitar and vocals, François Mary on bass and vocals, Igor Omodei on guitar and vocals, Yoann Orts on drums, and Matthieu Romand and Stéphane Buriez both on keyboards. They released their debut album 'Abîme' in 2009, followed by 'Februus' in 2012 and the double album 'Terminus' in 2015.
Their songs like 'Awaken/Frost/Hail' and 'Frost' show their approach to composition, which tends toward the intricate and layered. In 2019 they put out 'La Partition,' a collaborative project with writer Marieke Lucas Rijneveld. The band has worked independently for much of their run, dealing with the usual constraints of limited budgets and the grind of touring.
Their lyrics often touch on philosophical or existential themes, which has sometimes drawn attention or debate. They've kept at it without much concern for fitting neatly into one category, just making the music they want to make.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
