União Das Almas formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1990s with Felipe Catto on vocals and guitar, Fabio Tagliaferri on guitar, Cadu Pelegrini on bass, and Alex Sabino on drums. They built a following through live shows before their 1997 debut album. That record's single 'Br Br Brasil' became a national hit, though some critics questioned its approach.
The band kept the same lineup through subsequent albums like 'Vitrola' in 1999 and 'Universo' in 2004. Their songs often mixed rock with Brazilian rhythms, as heard in tracks like 'My Dark Side' and 'Stuck In The Room.' They worked with artists including Chico Buarque and Gilberto Gil during this period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
