Unida formed after Kyuss broke up, with John Garcia on vocals. They put out three albums in the late 90s and early 2000s: 'Coping with the Urban Coyote' in 1999, 'For the Working Man' in 2003, and 'The Great Divide' in 2004. Songs like 'You Wish' and 'Human Tornado' show their heavy, melodic take on stoner rock.
They had a rough go of it financially, which meant canceled tours and delayed records. Bassist Dave Dinsmore left the band in 2004 after an arrest for meth possession. The group called it quits the following year.
After Unida ended, Garcia sang for Vista Chino and Slo Burn. Guitarist Kevin Dilworth and drummer Miguel Rascón kept playing music elsewhere. Dinsmore died in 2013.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
