Background notes

Archive material and source history

United We Fall formed in suburban Pennsylvania around 2005, with Chris Guglielmo on lead vocals and guitar, Tom Proudfit on bass, Patrick Kelly on drums, and John Schwam on guitar. They put out their first album, 'Revolutionaries Only,' in 2007.

Their 2009 album 'We Set Sail' gave the band its biggest moment. The title track and other songs from that record showed their mix of hardcore intensity and more melodic, emo-influenced songwriting. They released several more albums through 2016, including 'Fading Colors' and 'Gravity.'

Guitarist John Schwam left the band in 2011, but United We Fall kept going and put out music for several more years. Their sound drew from bands like Fugazi and Thursday, favoring anthemic, guitar-driven arrangements with introspective lyrics.
