Us Guri da Vanera formed in Aratiba, Rio Grande do Sul in 1993. Their debut album came out in 1996, featuring the song "Peregrino do Bailão." The band's lineup has included José Rosa on vocals and guitar, Renato Bastos on accordion, Luizinho Freitas on bass, and Rafael Selistre on drums.
They put out several albums after that first one, like "Quem Bate o Pé" in 1997, "Um Novo Tempo" in 1999, and "A Paixão do Bailão" in 2004. In 2005, there was some legal trouble over a melody, which ended with a settlement.
Their music draws from traditional Brazilian folk styles, with accordion playing a central role. "Peregrino do Bailão" became their most recognized track.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
