Us Vakeirus Du Forró formed in 1997 in Campina Grande, Brazil, with three friends: Zé Arnaud on vocals, Assisão on accordion, and Nito playing zabumba. They started playing local festivals and clubs, working in the traditional forró style that was fading at the time.

Their song "Abra seu coração" came out in 2005 and became a hit, giving the band wider recognition. They kept recording albums like "Esperando na janela" in 2007 and "No balanço do forró" in 2009, sticking with forró while it shifted around them.

In 2010 they got some criticism for lyrics in a song and apologized. They've had other songs like "Aflição" and "Amando Gostoso" in their catalog, and kept putting out records into the next decade with "De volta às origens" in 2012.
