Usina Tônica formed in Belo Horizonte in the late 1990s, with Thesso Bis on vocals and guitar. They put out their first album in 2000, followed by four more studio records over the next sixteen years, including 'O Estranho Mundo de Thesso Bis' in 2002 and 'Luz' in 2016.
Their song 'Lisérgico' from 2002 drew some radio pushback for its lyrics, but it found an audience anyway. The band's lineup stayed fairly steady, with Fábio Góes on guitar, Rodrigo Barba on bass, and Marcelo Cabral on drums.
They wrote songs like 'Thesso Bis' that mixed rock and electronic touches, which didn't always sit right with everyone at the time. They kept at it through 2016's 'Luz'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
