V for Vendetta formed in São Paulo, Brazil in 1998 with vocalist Paula Rothstein, guitarists Diego Goulart and Caio Lourenço, bassist Humberto Braga, and drummer Edson Souza. They released their debut album 'A Hora do Pesadelo' the following year, which included the title track that became one of their most recognized songs.
The band's music drew from thrash, death, and progressive metal styles, with Rothstein's vocals and the guitar work defining their sound. They followed up with albums like 'Mors Certa' in 2001, 'Deus Ex Machina' in 2004, and 'Mandatum' in 2008. Other songs in their catalog include 'Império em Chamas', 'Jessy', and 'Sick'.
Lineup changes occurred over time, with Rothstein leaving in 2009 and being replaced by Sonia Melo. Goulart departed in 2012, and Lourenço left in 2016. The band continued performing with different members after these changes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
