Man, we been friends, for so long- I mean all our life

We went to church together, and we grew up together

You know we went through everything

And I, I can't do this no more

You know, if you ain't going God's way

I'm sorry- I can't get down with you no more

I hope you understand, just listen

I have been separated (from everything I love, Father God)

And it's okay, it'll be alright

And I know you don't get it, but you're the type that some would like and

I just can't keep by your side (no-oo-ooo)

You were my best friend and I could never let go (hey, girls for life)

I found myself cryin' when God told me I had to take it back (it back)

And I ain't gone tell you no lie, I wanted to tell God no

But he is the Master, you know I know better so I have to just tell ya

I have been separated (from everything I love, Father God), and it's okay, i'll be alright

And I know you don't get it, but you're the type that some would like and I just can't keep by your side (no-oo-ooo)

We grew up together, best of friends forever, never left each others side.

And look how when we grow up, life is so different but everything will be alright

(But you chose to go) you chose to go a way I cannot follow this time

I'm sorry, but I got to go (I gotta go do, what I know I gotta do)

Talk about my Lord, I love him more than anything; he is my first priority- that's why I told you to come with me

We could be girls for life, never fight, if we could just live right; and you insisted that you were fine and that you didn't want my advice

I know we've been separated, but it's all working out for our good.

And I know you don't get it, but you're the type that some would like and I just can't keep by your side (no-oo-ooo)

I gotta let you know I pray that you will find a way divine

But now I got to bounce (And I said there's nothing in the world that I can let get control of me)

I cannot fake it, I just got to take it, I cannot forsake him even though I'm separated

Man the funny thing about this song is- you know when I wrote it

I had just sang it to myself and my bestfriend; and you know when

I finally got around to recording it, um, the funny thing was because of my obedience to God she had rededicated her life back to him.

And you know, now we're friends again, and I give it all to God man.
