Vaca Jones came out of Belo Horizonte in the early 2000s, a Brazilian rock band built around Renato Jacques on vocals, Paulo César Gonzaga on guitar, and Daniel Bamberg on drums. Their 2004 debut album, 'Tô Nem Aí,' landed with a song that became something bigger than they were: 'Mais ou Menos 18 Anos.' It caught a particular feeling of teenage restlessness and turned into a kind of generational touchstone.
They put out two more albums, 'Tiozão' in 2006 and 'O Mundo Tá Quebrado' in 2008. Their sound pulled from rock, ska, and reggae, and their live shows developed a reputation for high energy.
Bassist Rodrigo Moura joined in 2006. Vaca Jones called it quits in 2010, but that one song, 'Mais ou Menos 18 Anos,' has stuck around. You'll still hear it, a reminder of a specific moment in Brazilian rock.
