Vacant Time formed in 2002 around singer-songwriter Ryan McNally and guitarist Chris Blair. Bassist Corey Martin and drummer Ethan James later joined as permanent members. Their debut album 'Hollow' came out in 2005, with the song 'For You' becoming a fan favorite. They followed with albums like 'Echo' in 2008, 'Departure' in 2011, and 'A Distant Horizon' in 2015.
In 2009, their label dropped them, so they self-released their third album and toured to rebuild their audience. In 2013, McNally faced misconduct accusations from a former member, which he denied. The band has released singles recently and is working on an album tentatively called 'Reverie.'
