Vacanti formed in Austin, Texas in 2004 with Ethan Vacanti on vocals and guitar, Zach Hill on bass, and Chris Haskett on drums. Their debut album 'The Long Road Home' came out in 2007, followed by 'Billi & Joe' in 2009. The title track from that second album became one of their most recognizable songs.
In 2013 they released 'The Distance,' which moved away from their earlier rock sound toward folk and electronic elements. The album got mixed reactions from fans and critics. They put out one more full-length, 'A Thousand Days,' in 2017.
More recently, the band has been involved with mental health awareness work alongside their music. Songs like 'Different' and 'Signs' remain in their setlists.
