Vadico was a Brazilian band that formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s. The group included Mário Vaz on vocals, Almir Guineto on guitar, Erasmo Carlos on guitar, and Jorge Ben Jor playing cavaquinho. Their sound mixed samba with rock and bossa nova influences.
In 1969, they released "Cem Mil Réis," a song that became their biggest hit. The title referred to the purchasing power of one hundred thousand Brazilian reis, a currency that had become nearly worthless due to inflation.
Vadico disbanded in 1972. Afterward, Erasmo Carlos built a solo career, while Almir Guineto and Jorge Ben Jor continued working in Brazilian music. Mário Vaz died sometime after the group ended.
