Valdemix formed around vocalist and guitarist Fabio Valente, with bassist Mauricio Ramos and drummer Thiago Cunha rounding out the core group. Their sound pulled from samba and bossa nova, but they weren't strictly traditionalists. Their 2006 single 'A Lua Me Traiu' became a breakout hit in Brazil, its melody and lyrics connecting with a wide audience.
That debut album, also called 'A Lua Me Traiu,' mixed those Brazilian rhythms with rock. Later records like 'Horizonte' and 'Tudo Pode Mudar' brought in jazz, folk, and electronic touches. Other songs in their catalog include 'New Boyfriend,' 'Estou Aqui,' and 'Prisão Sem Paredes.'
Fabio Valente's stage presence and the band's eclectic style drew attention, both positive and critical.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
