Archive material and source history
Valentine Band formed in Los Angeles in 1985 around singer Ethan James, guitarist Jake Carter, bassist Sam Taylor, and drummer Mike Davis. They played small clubs and local festivals, building a following they called the Valentine Army. Their sound drew from classic rock and punk energy, which came through on early material like "Hotel Room Heart" and "In Vein."
In 1988 they released their debut album, also titled All or Nothing. The title track became a rock radio staple, pushing the band to wider recognition. That success led to touring and sharing stages with acts like Bon Jovi and Guns N' Roses during the late '80s and early '90s.
They put out a few more albums in the following years, including Heart's Desire and Electric Shadows. Songs like "Too Far Gone" kept their melodic rock approach in circulation. The band eventually stopped working together, but their music, particularly "All or Nothing," still gets played.
