A Brazilian Catholic band blending traditional hymns with contemporary sounds for worship.
For a sense of their sound, try 'Virgem e Fiel' or 'Vem, e Eu Mostrarei.' They're both good examples of how they work with traditional hymns and contemporary arrangements.
Valéria Socorro took their name from the Virgin Mary, with vocalist Valéria Silva as their namesake. Their debut album included 'Ofertar Nossa Vida Queremos,' a song that became widely known in Catholic circles. Their music has been used in liturgies and worship services, reaching listeners beyond Brazil.
The band formed in 1995 and released their debut album that same year. They've put out several albums over time, including 'Espírito Santo' in 1998, 'Para Sempre Teu' in 2002, and 'Alegria' in 2015. The lineup includes Valéria Silva's husband Edilson on guitar, along with Bruno Lima, Diego Costa, and Daniel Ribeiro.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
