Their 1990 album 'Antidoping' gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming a hit that mixed rural rhythms with lyrics that poked at steroid use in Brazilian sports.
Brito had his own troubles too, including a 1992 arrest for cocaine possession and ongoing struggles with addiction and mental health that followed him through his career.
He kept making music after the duo, putting out albums like 'Macumbeiro' in 1992 and 'O Último Trovador' in 2008. Other songs like 'Ave de Rapina' and 'Vale Viver' show the mix of sertanejo, forró, and rock that ran through his work.
