Válvula de Eskape formed in Bogotá in 1993. The band included Alejandro Lozano on vocals, Felipe Muñoz on guitar, José Manuel Aguilera on bass, and Mario Duarte on drums. They started playing rock in a scene that wasn't always receptive to their style, but they kept at it, putting out their first album, 'Sin Escape,' in 1995.
Their song 'Eskape' became a kind of anthem for them, and they followed it with tracks like 'O Que É Real?' and 'Ruínas e Cinzas.' Over the next couple of decades, they released albums fairly regularly, including 'Yo Soy Tuyo' in 1997 and 'El Mejor Gol' in 1999, which did well commercially. They kept recording into the 2010s with albums like 'El Renacimiento' in 2013.
They were known for energetic live shows and a sound that leaned into rock without much polish. The band's lineup stayed consistent for a long time, which gave their music a steady, recognizable feel through all those records.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
