die zitten in een eikeboom
een eikeboom in Laren.
Ze hebben zelf, van eikehout
daar in de boom een huis gebouwd,

zo vrij aan alle kanten!
Ze hebben geen buren met radio,
maar tante vindt het maar zo-zo.

Zij is nooit echt op haar gemak.
De kinderwagen hangt aan 'n tak
en dat is wel bezwaarlijk.
Ze zegt ook telkens tegen oom:
'k wil liever in een lagere boom
hier is 't me te gevaarlijk.
Maar dan zegt oom: Och kom, och, kom!
Een lagere boom Wél nee, waarom
We hebben hier alle gemakken.
De kinderen willen toch niet weg
Het is nogal niet heerlijk, zeg,
dat klauteren in die takken!
Wat, vind jij het net een vogelkooi
Het uitzicht is toch prachtig mooi!
Jij moet ook altijd vitten.
En tante zegt: Nou ja, affijn
als jij het zegt, zal 't wel zo zijn,
dan blijven we hier maar zitten.
Dus woont mijn tante met mijn oom
nog steeds daar in die eikeboom,
ze zijn erg tevreden.
Mijn oom haalt brood en komt weer thuis.
De kinderen klauteren rondom het huis
en nooit valt er één naar beneden.
