Vandals

The Vandals formed in Huntington Beach, California in 1980, coming out of the Orange County punk scene. The original lineup included Dave Quackenbush on vocals, Joe Escalante on bass, Steve Jensen on guitar, and Todd Barnes on drums. They built a reputation for energetic shows and a particular kind of sardonic humor that set them apart from more serious hardcore acts.

Their music often delivered satirical lyrics over catchy, fast-paced punk hooks. Songs like 'Anarchy Burger (Hold The Government)' and 'Oi To The World' became fan favorites, mixing political irreverence with a sense of mischief.

The band's lineup has changed over time, with Escalante being the constant member. Quackenbush, Jensen, and Barnes all left at different points, and other musicians like guitarist Warren Fitzgerald and drummer Josh Freese have played with the group. They've put out more than a dozen studio albums, including early releases like 'Peace Thru Vandalism' from 1982 and later ones like 'Hollywood Potato Chip' in 1994.

While they've never been the most famous punk band, they've maintained a loyal following who appreciate their particular blend of humor and aggression. Their songs tackle everyday absurdities and social conventions with a wink, never taking themselves too seriously even when the guitars are playing really fast.
