Vanderlei Batista

Vanderlei Batista grew up in Campos Gerais, Minas Gerais, and later moved to São Paulo. In the late 1970s, he sang with the band Joelho de Porco. His solo career took off in 1984 with the release of his debut album, which included the song "Chuva da Minha Saudade." That track, with its themes of longing and unrequited love, became his most recognizable work.

Other songs in his catalog include "A Força do Cavalo," "Abram Alas Pra o Rio Grande," and "Batom Cor-de-rosa." His music often deals with romantic themes and carries a melancholic tone. He has worked with musicians like keyboardist José Carlos Costa and guitarist Serginho Sapo.

In the early 1990s, Batista faced plagiarism allegations, which he denied. He also dealt with personal struggles, including issues with alcohol. He continued to record music into the 2000s, with albums like "Alma Boêmia" in 2001 and "Vida Boêmia" in 2011.
