Vanessa

Vanessa is a band formed by sisters Vanessa and Shae Padilla from Los Angeles. They started with a 2016 EP called "Awakening" that mixed acoustic and electronic sounds, then followed with another EP in 2018 titled "Meditate." That song became one of their better-known tracks, along with others like "Summer now" and "Runny nose."

Their music tends toward folk and world influences with some electronic elements, and they often work with themes of self-reflection. The group expanded to include Jesse Huerta on guitar, Loren Humphrey on drums, and Jake Mason on keyboards and electronics. They released albums called "The Inner Journey" in 2020 and "Serendipity" in 2022.

Some listeners have found their spiritual themes and unconventional instrumentation divisive, but their live shows developed a reputation for creating a particular kind of immersive atmosphere. They've kept to their own path rather than smoothing out those edges.
