Variantes formed in Porto Alegre in 2007, starting with four musicians: Santiago Bonavides on vocals and guitar, Fábio Elias on bass, Matheus Mantovani on drums, and Guilherme Pires on keyboards. Their song 'Eu Quero Tudo' came out in 2010 and became a popular track for them, along with others like 'Tudo Acontece' and 'Corrente'.
In 2014, Elias and Mantovani left the band. Bonavides and Pires brought in Rodrigo Ribeiro on bass and Rafael Zanin on drums to continue. They released albums including 'O Mundo É Nosso' in 2011, 'Pra Frente' in 2014, 'Plural' in 2017, and 'Nosso Tempo' in 2020.
