Stevie Ray Vaughan was born in Dallas, 1954, and picked up the guitar early, influenced by his older brother Jimmie's blues records. In the 1970s he formed Double Trouble with bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton, and their live shows built a following around Austin.
Epic Records signed them in 1982, and the debut album Texas Flood came out the next year. That record, along with songs like Pride And Joy and Little Wing, anchored his reputation as a blues guitarist who could play with both fire and precision.
He released several albums through the 1980s, including Couldn't Stand the Weather and In Step.
