Ved Buens Ende formed in Norway in 1994, with Vicotnik on vocals and Vicotnik II on guitar, joined by drummer Faust and bassist Skoll. Their debut album 'Written in Waters' came out in 1998, establishing their atmospheric take on black metal. They followed it with albums like 'Those Who Caress the Pale' in 2000 and 'Urfader' in 2003.
Songs like 'I Sang For The Swans' and 'Carrier Of Wounds' show their style: melodic but bleak, with cryptic lyrics and a dense, layered sound. They kept recording through the 2000s, putting out 'Siderisk' in 2005 and 'At the Heart of Winter' in 2009, before going on hiatus around 2014.
