Regine Velasquez was born in Manila in 1970 and started singing young. She won the Asia-Pacific Song Festival in 1989, which helped launch her career. Her debut album 'Regine' came out in 1994. She's known for her powerful voice and has recorded songs like 'Alipin' and 'Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang'.
In 2001, 'Alipin' became a major hit in the Philippines. She's released more than twenty albums over time, including 'Listen Without Prejudice' in 1997 and 'R2K' in 2000. She has also worked with other artists, like Jacky Cheung on 'In Love With You'.
