Veld came together in Los Angeles around 2005 with Alix Brown on vocals, Scott Blatter on guitar, Ryan Murphy on bass, and Jake Howard on drums. Their first album, 'Invisible Empire,' came out in 2008 and got some attention for its lyrics, which didn't shy away from challenging authority. They followed it up with 'The Great Divide' in 2010.
Songs like 'Conquerors Of All Icons' and 'Endless Spiritual Paranoia' show what they were going for, a heavy, confrontational rock sound with lyrics that questioned things. Brown's vocals were a big part of that, and the band worked together on writing, pulling from what was happening around them.
They put out a few more albums, including one called 'Conquerors of All Icons' in 2013 and 'Post-Truth' in 2017. At different points, they worked with other artists like M.I.A. and Skrillex, which let them try out some different sounds alongside their usual guitar-driven approach.
