Velho formed in São Paulo in the early 1990s with guitarist Fábio Antunes, vocalist Zé Marcos, bassist Mauricio Aniceto, and drummer Paulo Roberto. Their debut album 'Satã, Apareça!' came out in 1992, followed by records like 'Nova Ordem' in 1994 and 'Reino das Trevas' in 1998. They kept recording into the 2000s with 'O Ritual' in 2003 and 'O Último Dia' in 2012.
Tracks like 'A Marca Invisível de Lúcifer' and 'O Amanhecer Dos Bruxos Negros Terroristas' from their catalog continued in that vein. The band's lineup changed over time, with Milton Rodrigues eventually taking over vocals while Antunes remained on guitar.
They faced some difficult periods, including Zé Marcos's personal struggles and an accident involving Antunes in 2006. Through it all, they maintained a following in Brazilian metal circles for their persistent sound and thematic focus, with songs like 'Coma Induzido' and 'Lago Das Decepções' representing their work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
