Velocipede formed in 2002 with Joseph Pope on vocals and guitar, Hugh Harris on bass, Benjamin Storey on guitar, and Oliver Black on drums. They released their debut EP 'Wanderlust' in 2004, which included the song 'This Way.'
'This Way' became a fan favorite with its string arrangements and Pope's vocals. The band went on to release three studio albums: 'Wanderlust' in 2004, 'Equinox' in 2007, and 'Seraphina' in 2010.
Their music drew from classical, jazz, and post-rock influences. Some critics found their lyrics too introspective, but the band kept working with the same core lineup through their releases.
