Velociraptor formed in Los Angeles in 2006 with Joe James on guitar and vocals, Jacob Slichter on bass, and Jeremy Barnes on drums. Their early single 'Ramona' got attention on indie radio stations, and they built a following with that raw, melodic sound.
In 2010, drummer Barnes left the band after an arrest for drug possession. They brought in Bryan Wilson on drums and kept going, eventually adding touring guitarist Luke Mossman. Their debut album was self-titled, and they followed it with records like 'Americana' and 'Modern Thrills'.
