Veludo formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in the early 2000s with Luciano Estevam on vocals and guitar, Alexandre Kassin on keyboards and guitar, and Pedro Sá on drums. Their music pulled from Brazilian folk, rock, and electronica, with lyrics that tended toward the introspective.
Their 2008 album 'A Chama da Vida' gave them their biggest song, the title track that became something of an anthem in Brazil. Other songs like 'A Única' and 'Egoísmo' showed their range within that folk-rock blend.
They released several albums over about a decade, including their self-titled debut in 2005, 'O Som do Tempo' in 2011, and 'O Mundo Que Não Vemos' in 2015. The later work grew more experimental, exploring themes of time and perception.
