Velvet formed in Rome in 1997 with Lorenzo Campani on vocals, Alessandro Marinelli on guitar, Corrado Guzzanti on bass, and Luca Marchini on drums. Their debut album 'Incanto' came out in 1999. Some of their songs include 'Cose Comuni', 'Sono Vivo', and 'Il Mondo E' Fuori'.

In 2002, Campani dealt with a vocal cord disorder that required therapy. The band also faced some criticism about religious imagery in their music videos around that time. They kept releasing albums like 'L'Amore' in 2003 and 'Essenza' in 2005.

Their song 'Mi amore' appears to have been particularly well-known. Other tracks like 'Luciano Ti Odio' and 'Non E' Per Me Non E' Per Te' show up in their catalog. They put out albums through 2017 with 'Velvet 20'.
