Veneno formed in Seville in 1977, with brothers Ricardo and Kiko Veneno alongside Rafael Marin. They played punk with flamenco touches, using hand claps and guitar techniques from that tradition. Their first album came out the same year they started, simply called 'Veneno'.
They followed with 'Veneno II' in 1979, 'El Rock de los Veneno' in 1981, 'Combat 30' in 1982, and 'Cachito' in 1985. Their song 'Ella No Sabe' shows how they mixed styles. The band's performances were known for being chaotic, and their lyrics often dealt with social and political themes.
Veneno's approach influenced other Spanish musicians in the years after they began. Their records from the late 1970s and early 1980s document a particular moment when punk energy met Andalusian sounds.
