Archive material and source history
Veneza formed in São Paulo in the early 1980s. The band included Fernando Magalhães on lead vocals and guitar, Ricardo Barreto on guitar, Roberto Schmidt on bass, and Rodrigo Santos on drums. They released albums like Ao Vivo na Casa Preta in 1983 and Veneza in 2002.
Their music mixed rock and pop with Brazilian samba. The song "Dias e Noites" became well-known for its themes of love and loss. Another track, "Seu Nome Em Cartaz," also appears in their catalog.
Some of their lyrics contained political commentary during Brazil's military regime, which drew attention at the time. They recorded an acoustic album in 1994 and put out Nove in 1997.
